Lockyer Valley Regional

The Lockyer Valley Regional Council area is located in south-east Queensland, about 90 kilometres west of the Brisbane CBD. It was created in 2008 from a merger of the Shire of Gatton and the Shire of Laidley. The Lockyer Valley Regional Council area is predominantly rural, with major town centres at Gatton and Laidley, and a number of smaller townships including Forest Hill, Grantham, Helidon, Murphys Creek, Plainland and Withcott. Rural land is used largely for farming and agriculture, particularly vegetable and grain growing, and sheep and cattle grazing.

Glen Rock State Forest is situated at the head of Tenthill Valley and adjoins the World Heritage-listed Main Range National Park. It was declared state forest in 2011, providing open space to the public of South East Queensland for a range of recreational purposes, including walking, camping and horseriding.
Main Range National Park straddles the Great Dividing Range West of Brisbane. The park includes some of the most popular mountain walks in South-East Queensland including the highest mountain in the region, Mt Superbus.
Cunningham's Crest Lookout is where Cunningham stood proudly to view his new land. Visitors to Cunningham's Crest Lookout are rewarded with panoramic views of the Lockyer Valley west to Toowoomba and south to Cunningham's Gap. The lookout features two amazing viewing platforms and picnic tables, as well as murals and sculptures. Cunningham's Crest is a must-see!
