Tweed Shire

Tweed Shire Council, the largest Council on the north coast of New South Wales, was declared on 1 January 1947 following the amalgamation of the municipality of Murwillumbah and Shire of Tweed. Tweed Shire covers 1303 square kilometres and adjoins the NSW shires of Byron, Lismore and Kyogle, with the NSW/Queensland border to its north where it divides the twin towns of Tweed Heads and Coolangatta.

Wollumbin, which rises from World Heritage-listed Wollumbin National Park to a height of 1,157 metres above sea level, is a remnant central vent of an ancient volcano. Formerly known as Mount Warning, this spectacular peak can be viewed from a range of vantage points in the surrounding massive crater (caldera), including Cudgen Nature Reserve, Border Ranges National Park and Nightcap National Park, Cape Byron Lighthouse and various settlements.
Norries Head and beach is an attractive location immediately south of Cabarita. The 200 m long beach is tucked in between Norries Head and the rocks and bluff that separate it from Cabarita Beach.
Blue Ginger Picnics combines the glamour of historical picnics with modern day luxuries in gorgeous beach, creek or mountain locations.
