Edward River

The Edward River Council area is located in the Riverina Murray Region of south-western New South Wales, about 700 kilometres south-west of the Sydney CBD and 300 kilometres north of the Melbourne CBD. Established on 12 May 2016 following the merger of the former Conargo Shire and Deniliquin Councils; Edward River Council is an innovative, community-focussed Local Government responsible for delivering a comprehensive range of services to support and improve the lives of our 8,972 permanent residents.

Explore river red gum country in Murray Valley Regional Park, between the townships of Moama and Barooga. It’s dog friendly and has plenty of riverside campgrounds, walking tracks and waterways to explore by kayak or boat.
If you love early Australian history, then the Museum of the Deniliquin and District Historical Society is the place for you to visit. The museum, in the beautiful old building of the former police inspector’s residence, built in the 1880’s, nestles at the end of Macauley Street next to the scenic Edward River. The 1880’s residence is a historic building with several rooms displaying a varied and interesting collection reflecting the different facets of a lively community.
Explore some of Deni's highlights including the infamous Scott's Park aka Rocket Park. Having undergone a facelift in 2019, the park now features even more play equipment and some beautiful landscaping. Scott's Park, or as the local's have known it for decades (Rocket Park), is the perfect spot to sit back and relax while the kids explore.
