Murrindindi Shire

Murrindindi Shire Council is “surprisingly close” to Melbourne. It extends from the peri-urban communities of the Kinglake Ranges through to the rural townships of Yea, Alexandra and Eildon and the communities around Marysville. We have a diverse rural environment with mountains, pristine rivers, lakes and waterways, and National Parks. Our townships offer a diverse range of attractions including, retail, hospitality and tourism.

An easy 700 metre walk takes you to an awe-inspiring view of one of Victoria’s highest waterfalls. Plummeting 84 metres the falls have been a favourite since the 1860’s.
The Cathedral Range is a spectacular ridge of sharply upturned sedimentary rock. A variety of walking tracks ranging in difficulty from easy to challenging offer the opportunity to explore the park’s main features and climb the peaks to enjoy views of the forests and farmland in the valley below. This hike explores the southern circuit of the range taking in Wells Cave, Sugarloaf Peak, The Farmyard and South Jawbone.
Experience the magical rebirth of the Sculpture Garden and brand New Gallery (since 2009 bush fires). With more than 200 artworks to enjoy, you’ll spend hours admiring the amazing creativity of Bruno. A place for all ages.
