Lithgow

Located on the western ramparts of the Blue Mountains , 140 kilometres from Sydney , the Lithgow Local Government area totals 4551 square kilometres from the Capertee and Wolgan Valleys in the north, Little Hartley in the east, Tarana in the south and Meadow Flat in the west.

The remnants of the Blast Furnace stand tall reminding us that Lithgow was the birthplace of the Australian iron and steel industry. Constructed in 1913, the Lithgow Blast Furnace, at its peak, produced 105,000 tonnes of pig iron produced primarily for use by the Trans-Australia Railway.
Main Street’s Queen Elizabeth Park has beautiful trees, a spectacular avenue of roses and garden displays. You’ll find toilets, picnic facilities and a playground here and at Endeavour Park on the Great Western Highway.
Situated on the existing Factory site, this unique museum is widely recognised for its comprehensive collection of modern firearms from around the world, but more than that, it is a showcase of Australian manufacturing.
